WHAT IS
SUPPPORTED LIVING?

Supported living provides services to help individuals with disabilities, mental health issues, or other needs live independently. These services are personalized to meet specific needs, promoting independence and community integration. Individuals have choice and control over their living arrangements and the support they receive, which can range from daily living assistance to help with finances and healthcare. Using a person-centered planning approach, supported living focuses on strengths and aspirations, empowering individuals to lead more independent and meaningful lives.

Our Homes

Our services offer safe and comfortable homes where residents can rebuild their daily living skills and gain confidence for their recovery journey, including transitioning to greater independence in the community. Each of our houses has its own unique personality, shaped by our residents and teams. Our enhanced supported living model ensures consistently high-quality support. All our services offer rehabilitation and step-down programs for adults with mental health needs and challenging behaviors. To support recovery, each person has an independent tenancy agreement with a housing association.

ACCOMODATION

All of our supported accommodation houses will be 5 to 6 bedrooms and can house both male and female youths aged 18 and above.

What to Expect

Young Adults in care have individual care plans covering education, health, well-being, and support needs. Plans are private and include involvement in daily activities, community meetings, and individual plans. They have the right to protection, budgets for clothing, toiletries, and activities, and assistance in opening a bank account. They can choose meals, activities, attend education, and be treated with dignity and respect in a welcoming home environment.

01

Personal Hygiene

Hygiene is important and we expect you to have at least one bath or shower every day. You will also be encouraged to clean your teeth twice a day, and to change your clothes daily. The Staff will help you learn how to wash, iron, and take care of your clothes.

02

Key Workers

Each young adult is assigned a Key Worker, responsible for their day-to-day needs, including medical care, registrations, communication with social workers, home visits, and developing independent living skills. The Key Worker offers guidance and support with challenges.

03

Bullying

Bullying in any form is not tolerated. Seek help if you experience or have bullied others. You have the right to be heard and can discuss any issues. For complaints, talk to the staff on duty or your Key Worker. If not resolved, follow the Home’s formal complaint procedure with your Key Worker’s help.

Places of Worship

We accommodate and facilitate religious observance and spiritual practice for the young adults we support. Our staff encourages open discussion about religious backgrounds and preferences, aiming to honor individual spirituality and connect residents with appropriate resources and places of worship in the community. We provide support for attending services, obtaining religious texts or items, flexibility around rituals and holidays, and offer a non-judgmental environment for exploring beliefs. Spiritual well-being is seen as essential, and our goal is for young adults to feel respected, engaged, and nurtured in their faith journey.

Advocacy services are crucial for looked after Young Adults, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights upheld. Advocates, independent individuals who prioritize the child's best interests, empower Young Adults to express their views and navigate the care system. They can accompany them to meetings, assist with complaints, and connect them with support services, aiming to prevent isolation and powerlessness. Young Adults can access advocacy services through trusted adults, with advocates building rapport to understand their needs. With advocacy, Young Adults gain confidence that their voices matter in decisions about their lives.
